Policies That Have the Biggest Impact

As we grow, we recognize the need for change when it is necessary. Some of these policies are old, and some are new, but they are all important to the running of a safe, healthy, happy daycare. We appreciate you following the below guidelines, and you are welcome to read the reasons behind them.
  • Please label everything!
    • We don't want to lose your little one's precious things. But this is a daycare and if it's not labeled, it is simply impossible to keep track of everyone's containers, pants, underwear, socks, lunch box, tupperware, jackets, cups, food, pacifiers, accessories, bottles. whew that was a lot.
    • We will be providing sharpies in case you forget to label something. We will be starting a lost and found for items we are unable to match back to your child.
    • **The only exceptions are dry snacks that fit inside your child's snack box.**
  • Meal Time: Meals must be prepared in advance and ready to eat.
    • Frozen meals take a lot of time to make, and when trying to serve multiple children with 1 microwave, it is impossible to do with long-microwavable meals. It would take an hour to feed everyone this way. Please bring food ready to eat or needing just a little warming.
    • Grapes should be cut, oranges peeled or cut, etc.. We are not allowed knives and it is time consuming. We would rather be enjoying watching your children learn new flavors and textures!
    • Pack your child's lunch with an ice pack to make sure snacks stay cold into the afternoon.
  • Absent or Late: Please mark yourself absent on HoppingIn before 9:00 am to inform us if your child will be absent that day. If you will arrive after 9:00am, please let us know that as well via the Brightwheel App.
    • This helps us plan our day accordingly and send extra staff home if necessary.
    • Some families with less traditional child care needs may be able to use that space.
    • On the flip side, if you let us know the day before, you have the opportunity to make $5 if your child's spot is picked up. The sooner we know, the better.
    • If there is something wrong with the system, please give us a call or message us through Brightwheel.
  • Necessities:
    • Always bring back the mat and blanket on Mondays. If you forget, please bring it back before nap time at noon.
    • Bring two labeled cups every day; one for milk and one for water (except infants who should be all about that milk)
  • Late Pickup: If you will be late picking up your child, please let the daycare know as soon as you know.
    • Our employees need to get home to their families and need to plan accordingly if they will not be able to.
    • No children are to be left past 6:00pm under any condition.
  • Safety: Children should always be wearing safe shoes with grip on the bottom.
    • No boots without grip, as they are slippery and dangerous when the ground gets wet.
    • Shoes with velcro are easiest for us to help your child with.
    • Once they master velcro, then it's zipper and shoelaces. We want your child to learn to do these things for themselves so that they gain confidence in their abilities.
  • Health: Juice, candy, chocolate & other unhealthy foods are not allowed.
    • Please consider the sugar content of your child's cereal.
    • Please refrain from bringing chips and other snacks considered unhealthy
    • Other children usually want your child's awesome treat and then it's chaos!
  • Transition: For a smooth transition, please hand your child over to one of our staff
    • Infants and toddlers should physically be handed to staff. This is when First Adventures assumes responsibility for your child.
    • This allows us to connect with you in the morning and find out how your night and morning was, as well as your child’s.
    • This allows for your child to be taken care of if they are upset that you are leaving.
    • If your child does get upset, we will guide you through proper steps to ensure it doesn't last long.
